I also think it's a good move. Maine has done quite well moneywise in the past - playing at Nebraska and Iowa among others. They actually beat Mississippi State in Starkville. The past couple of years they've played BC and Umass.

Given URI's history of doing everything on the cheap (Ryan Center excepted) I don't think it would be a good idea and would drain funds. My memory is a bit vague, but I think part of the University of Vermont is private. When my folks graduated from there in the 1930's it was known as "The University of Vermont and State Agricultural College". I also seem to remember that the Aggie school at Cornell is state related.

I'm not sure how things work now, but in the 1960's, if you were on an athletic team, you got one credit for phys ed each semester. Also note that phys ed was required your freshman year.
