I've had the opportunity to sit in on a few practices the past few weeks, and I feel very confident saying that after tonight, you guys will be very, very pleased with what you see out there tonight.
In my opinion, I think all the scholarship players-but Butler-will get some good burn this year.

In Joe Lunardi's latest bracket (the 15th) he has:
Butler (5 seed)
VCU (8 seed)
St. Louis (11 seed)
La Salle (11 seed)
With Temple & St. Joes on his "First Four Out" list. Who knows what it'll look like when he updates it.

The 49ers are sitting smack dab on the bubble. A couple of impressive wins over the next 27 days (Selection Sunday) should lock up a bid assuming a there are no major shockers from the BCS conferences.

I love his honesty and how blunt he is. I love when a coach says screw being politically correct...this is what's REALLY happening!

I was impressed with how well he was moving without the ball last night. Some nice back door cuts. One of those missed layups looked like it came from a bad pass from Brooks (from where I was sitting), seemed like he passed it towards his feet.

Powell was frustrating to watch. Dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, force a pass, make a lazy cut.
I came into this season keeping high hopes for him, but after the practice and game 1, I don't see how he sticks around once EC and Biggie are playing.

One thing I noticed down the stretch was that the team fed off of Nik. If Nik was amped up, everyone else was. When he began to focus more on talking trash and forced shots, then the rest did.
Hopefully he leads by example.
