D'Amato died when Tyson was 20. If he'd stayed with Kevin Rooney, I think would have continued to dominate. Tyson had no Frazier or Norton in his era. Douglas was a fluke. Sorry to see X get cut. He may always be a borderline guy. But at least he has a few games in the league now. Looked like he played well with Memphis. New coach, new players now.
I'd take him over James Young. But young has the advantage of being a first round pick and being from Kentucky.

Nineteen is just starting out. Sad. As for Brian Forster, the Gronk comparisons are apt. Nowhere the same size but very tough. Great hands and route runner. Had NFL skills if not size and speed. Second best tight end ever from Danvers. Mark Bavaro being the first.

Marc Upshaw was a talented URI player in the early '80s. Blew out his knee and lost a potential NBA career. Today, he would have a good chance of getting fully healthy.

The coaches and players have no interest in past misfortunes. How long did it take Jim Harrick to change the vibe here? Maybe a week?
The the people I've seen transcend the past here were Kraft, Harrick and AD Tom McElro, who was run out in record time. Maybe Hurley's next as a change agent.

Dan brings a lot more drive and energy to things. Baron would have been happy to win 20 a year and eventually retire from URI. Dan is looking beyond. Did Baron ever beat a ranked team? We almost beat Duke (sound familiar?). Pitt maybe? We beat Syracuse in a rare down year for the Orange.

Blame Baron on Crothers and Petro. They wanted a safe coach who would work hard, whose players would graduate, who might get to the Dance with a little luck.
